The Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated a residential school for financially disadvantaged children.

On Monday, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated a school for poor children. He inaugurated the Balasore branch of the Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS), Emami-KISS Residential School virtually. The school has been built at a cost of Rs 50 crore and spans over 12 acres of land including a mechanised kitchen, and a 25-bed hospital.

APPROXIMATELY 1,200 ECONOMICALLY CHALLENGED STUDENTS

While inaugurating the facility, Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik stated that in the first phase, approximately 1,200 economically challenged students from Class 1 to Class 12 will be given free education in the school at Remuna under the CBSE curriculum.

The Odisha CM further stated, “KISS has taken initiative to open fully free residential schools for poor and underprivileged tribal children in 30 districts of Odisha. This would strengthen our initiative to give quality education to all children.”

OVER 4,000 SCHOOLS TRANSFORMED

Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik went on to inform that the Odisha government is giving importance to education and is transforming schools under the 5T initiative.

He added that over 4,000 government-run high schools have been transformed with modern facilities so far.
The initiative by KISSS and Emami was also praised by the Odia Language, Literature, and Culture Department Minister Ashwini Patra
