Tripura Education Minister Ratanlal Nath announced on Wednesday that the state government has approved the proposal to provide the female school students with free sanitary napkins to promote menstrual health among the youth of the state. The free sanitary napkins will be provided to all schoolgirls in Tripura studying in classes 6 to 12 and also start following the School Bag Policy 2020.
This move will help female students maintain proper menstrual hygiene and gain more understanding about menstrual health.
The scheme involving the distribution of sanitary pads among schoolgirls in Tripura is called ‘Kishori Suchita Abhiyan’, which is set to cover a total of 1,68,252 students.
