District Officials ‘Adopt’ Schools In Jharkhand To Improve Standard Of Education Post Covid

Jamshedpur: Given the disruptions brought on by the COVID-19 outbreak, senior officials in Jharkhand’s East Singhbhum district have “adopted” 187 government-run schools to help raise the educational standards in the institutions. As part of the “Abua Aasdra” (Our School) programme, Deputy Commissioner Vijaya Jadav has adopted one middle school each in Patamda, Ghatsila, Dumaria, and Baharagora in the district, an official said Sunday.

Additional District Magistrate (Law and Order) Nandkishore Lal, Additional Deputy Commissioner Saurabh Sinha, District Transport Officer Dinesh Rajan, and District Public Relation Officer Rohit Kumar are among those who adopted schools as part of the project.

According to the official, the goal of the launch of “Abua Aasdra” was to improve middle school education standards at government-run institutions by putting welfare programmes into place. It also aimed to influence students’ learning habits for the better.

Additionally, he said, the concerned officials have been tasked with organising quarterly parent-teacher conferences, ensuring that pupils maintain a 90% attendance rate, and developing the appropriate infrastructure.

The deputy commissioner has given the staff instructions to ensure that qualified pupils are taken advantage of by state government programmes like the Mukhyamantri Vishesh Chhatravritti Yojana and the Savitibai Phule Kishori Smridhi Yojana.
