he Delhi Police on Monday again appealed to protesters to unblock the Kalindi Kunj-Shaheen Bagh stretch, saying the blockage is causing “extreme hardships” to school children.
The protesters, who are opposing the contentious Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) and a proposed pan-India National Register of Citizens (NRC), have been sitting on the protest at Delhi’s Shaheen Bagh for over a month.
The road is a key link between Noida and Delhi and has been closed by the Noida Traffic Police in view of the ongoing protests.
In a tweet, Delhi Police said, “We have already appealed to you once before. Meanwhile, more complaints have been received regarding inconvenience due to blockade of Road No.13A, particularly to school children who are facing extreme hardship in reaching their schools, coaching centers, and private tuitions.”
“Their parents have expressed deep anxiety in view of forthcoming Board examinations. Daily commuters, local residents and businesspersons are also facing acute harassment. We once again appeal to the protesters at Shaheen Bagh to clear the road and restore normal traffic,” the Delhi Police said in another tweet.
