18th June 2022, Saturday, Delhi – It is stated that ideas might strike at any time. At an age when most students spend their time playing games and other leisure activities, Prithvi Singh of DAV Public School Sector 14, Faridabad, class VIII, has devised a system that can manage the speed of automobiles on various highways.
Prithvi discovered while traveling with his parents once that different roadways have varied speed limits and that people typically ignore the speed limit sign boards, which might lead to traffic accidents. This was the inspiration for him to create a system that could alert drivers ahead of time about the speed restriction of a specific route and allow the driver to manage his speed based on these warning signals. This device has the potential to be highly useful in reducing road accidents and conserving the time of the Traffic Police department that is spent due to driver irresponsibility. He devised a system that may be installed in mobile phones, laptop computers, and navigation devices. With the help of a navigation unit and identification, sensing, and computation modules, the system first warns the driver about the speed restriction and then automatically slows down the car on a specific roadway based on a standard speed limit or a predetermined speed limit. This system has now been patented by the Office of the Controller General of Patents, Designs, and Trademarks, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India. Mrs. Anita Gautam, Principal of the School, and Mr. Navdeep Chawla, Vice-Chairperson, congratulated Prithvi Singh and his parents on their achievement.
