Jagran Correspondent, Kolkata: In an innovative initiative to lighten the burden of students, the Mamta government has decided to arrange locker in all government schools. Space for school initiatives is being earmarked for this initiative. Education Minister Partha Chatterjee gave this information on Wednesday. He told that with the provision of the locker in the schools, the burden of the students will be lighter as they can keep books, stationery in it and they can get relief by bringing them from school to school every day and taking them home from school. The minister further said- ‘We want to build lockers in all government schools. This will ease the burden of schooling of all students from nursery to class seven.
However, Chatterjee clarified that the government would not be able to provide this facility in government-aided schools due to lack of funds. An official in the education department said that locker has already been arranged in some schools in the metropolis. He said that this initiative will benefit at least 1.5 crore students. At the same time, the Principal of Jadavpur Vidyapeeth Parimal Bhattacharya said that he has not received any official information in this regard, but the government’s move is commendable. This will provide great relief to the students.
