Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Virendra Kumar will inaugurate a residential school plan for scheduled caste kids on Friday, with the goal of providing them with quality education in reputable private institutions. The Social Justice and Empowerment Ministry developed the Scheme for Residential Education for Children in High Schools in Targeted Areas (SRESHTA) with the goal of providing excellent education and opportunity to even the poorest SC students, in accordance with the Constitutional requirement.
According to the ministry, each year, around 3,000 meritorious SC students from various states/UTs would be selected through a transparent system of a National Entrance Test for SRESHTA (NETS) conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). Selected students will be accepted to the top private residential schools connected with CBSE in classes 9 and 11 to complete their studies until the 12th grade.
Following that, the students may be connected to the ministry’s Post Metric Scholarship Scheme or Top Class Education Scheme to continue their education with enough financial help from the government. According to the statement, the ministry picked the highest performing private residential schools based on specific factors through a committee comprised of members from the Ministry of Education, CBSE, and the department’s financial division.
