Given the intense rainfall, several districts in Uttar Pradesh have declared today, October 10, a holiday for all schools. Schools have been instructed to close in a number of districts, including Lucknow, Noida, Ghaziabad, Agra, Meerut, Aligarh, Mathura, Kanpur, Etah, Mainpuri, Unnao, Raebareli, and Firozabad. All classes in these schools, regardless of whether they are state-run, private, or partially government-aided, have been instructed to stay cancelled today. On Sunday, October 9, there were significant downpours in a few areas of Uttar Pradesh, and more are expected today.
The District Magistrate of Gautam Budh Nagar has declared a holiday on October 10 (Monday) in government, semi-government aided, and unaided recognised schools of all the boards operating from class 1 to 12 in the district due to excessive rain in the district and keeping in mind the possibility of excessive rain, according to District School Inspector Dharamveer Singh.
According to PTI, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) also issued an orange advisory on Sunday due to the possibility of severe to very heavy rain, thunderstorms, and lightning in parts of western Uttar Pradesh and warned the authorities to be vigilant on Monday.
However, schools in Aligarh will be shuttered until October 12, while those in Kasganj district have been told to close on October 10 and October 11.
